# Joji – AI Medical Visit Companion

Case study

Joji helps patients and caregivers keep their medical information in one place and understand it. It records a visit and writes it up, reads documents and patient-portal records, turns discharge instructions into a recovery plan and answers questions about your own care. Our team builds the whole product: the iOS app, the backend and its AI pipeline.

## Set up in a conversation

Joji sets up an account in a short chat instead of a form: who the app is for, a clinic code if there is one, the calendar and the patient portals to connect. Every step can be skipped and picked up later from Home.

## Every visit, written up

The patient records the visit with one tap. Joji transcribes it and writes a plain-language summary, then turns what the doctor said into tasks, reminders and warning signs, and adds new diagnoses and medications to the health record.

## Ask Joji

A chat that answers from the patient’s own visits, records and plan. Here it noticed a penicillin allergy in the record next to the amoxicillin prescribed that day and suggested raising it with the prescriber. It explains and organises, and never diagnoses or prescribes.

## One record that keeps growing

Diagnoses, medications, allergies, labs and family history come together from visits, scanned documents and patient portals such as MyChart. Each document gets an AI summary and is linked to the visit it belongs to.

## Recovery, day by day

Discharge instructions become a day-by-day plan: exercises, medications and appointments on a schedule, overdue items flagged, and a clear list of when to call the care team.

## For the whole family

One account manages a child’s or an ageing parent’s health next to the patient’s own, and a caregiver can be invited to follow a recovery plan and read visit summaries.

## Under the hood

A SwiftUI app with Live Activities for a visit in progress and a client generated from the API’s OpenAPI contract. The backend runs on Bun and Hono with Drizzle on PostgreSQL and BullMQ workers for transcription, document extraction and record imports, with FHIR records from patient portals and AWS for storage. The app, the API and the product documentation live in one repository.
